Hiker rescued after falling at Red Rock Canyon while climbing ‘marijuana’ route

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A hiker was rescued after they fell while leading a climb on Sunday in Oak Creek at Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas police said.

According to an Instagram post on Metro’s Search and Rescue account, the victim fell while on a rock face known as “Marijuana” in Oak Creek.

“During the fall, their top piece of gear pulled out, the subject’s leg caught their rope, causing them to flip and hit their head, becoming unconscious for approximately 20 minutes,” the post stated.

The search and rescue team used a helicopter to get someone to the victim to begin treating their injuries and then hoisted the person and their partner. They were taken to the BLM Fire Station helipad where the victim was transported to the hospital. No information was released on the injured person’s condition.
