Former President Donald Trump’s visit to Austin on Friday is expected to bring traffic delays to the area.
The City of Austin has warned residents of potential road closures and traffic delays, especially routes to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Officials expect all lanes of Highway 71 between Highway 183 and Woodward Street near St. Edward’s University to be closed, including frontage roads. The same is true of Highway 183 between Highway 71 and Burleson Road near the airport.
Closures are not expected to impact I-35.
The city has posted the following tips for getting around Austin today:
-
Allow extra time for driving, and plan alternative routes to avoid delay.
-
Use public transportation if possible, keeping in mind that some routes may be adjusted to accommodate road closures.
-
Avoid parking along the route.
