A Tennessee woman was so excited to reunite with her high school sweetheart she traveled hundreds of miles and raced through a crowd to get to him.
Anna Lee Williams, 19, missed her Airman boyfriend, Jacob Holmes, dearly during his U.S. Air Force basic military training. “Going from being around each other every single day, to basically no contact was hard,” she said. “But I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
When the day of his graduation arrived, Williams couldn’t wait another moment to see him. She traveled to Lakeland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to attend the ceremony. When it concluded, Anna ran through a sea of people to tap him out – a tradition where loved ones touch an Airman’s shoulder to release them from formation.

“It was the biggest relief ever,” she said. “It’s wonderful to watch him grow from a young boy to an amazing Airman.”
