SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A winter storm is underway in Utah, causing the Utah Dept. of Transportation to issue a warning of road weather hazards.
Precipitation is hitting the state, including snow showers across the mountains and upper canyons on Sunday before tapering off Sunday night.
Time for winter gear — freezing temperatures expected statewide this week
The highest routes — mainly summits above 8,000 feet — could see several inches of snow during the storm, according to UDOT. While snow totals will lessen the further down in elevation you get, any snow that mixes down to the Wasatch Front or any lower valleys will result in wet roads.
Anyone driving through canyon or mountain routes should exercise caution and pay attention to Traction Laws.
