Central School District in and around Independence and Monmouth asked voters to decide a $90 million in bond to fund a variety of projects including security upgrades at all the schools in the district and new playgrounds at three elementary schools.
The 30-year bond would raise property taxes to $3.75 per $1,000 of the assessed property value. Property with an assessed value of $250,000 would see an increase of about $12.50 per year.
With passage of the bond, the school district also would receive $6 million in state funds.
