At least 6 Lubbock businesses hit in early Monday break-in spree. Here’s what we know

Updated: 05-11-2024, 05.21 AM

A string of break-ins on 82nd Street and Indiana Avenue have left several businesses and restaurants with broken windows and machines early Monday. Lubbock police have confirmed these incidents are connected.

Rachel’s Restaurant, 3416 82nd St., posted around 6:41 a.m. Monday that the restaurant was damaged overnight Sunday into Monday.

“As if it wasn’t hard enough for us small businesses right now, someone decided to destroy our restaurant in search of cash, we are guessing,” the restaurant stated on social media. “Now we have tons of damages to our building that we need to repair, but nonetheless please stop by and dine in with us or pick up some food, we would greatly appreciate it as we have to pay for these repairs now.”

Rachel’s was only one of at least six, according to LPD. While LPD did not name the businesses, several of the impacted locations called for support on social media.

“Early this morning Ralph’s Records, Bricks & Minifigs, Rachel’s and Ravi’s (and more I don’t know about) all got broken into,” Ralph’s Records stated on social media. “We were lucky, not sure how everyone else turned out. So, if you are in the neighborhood, go support your local business’ that had some cruddy luck!”

The current list of confirmed impacted businesses include:

  • Rachel’s Restaurant.

  • Ralph’s Records, 3322 82nd St.

  • Bricks & Minifigs, 8004 Indiana Ave.

  • A restaurant at 8004 Indiana Ave.

  • A barber shop in the 3400 block of 82nd Street.

  • A nail salon in the 3400 block of 82nd Street.

No arrests had been made as of Monday.
