Michael Cohen predicted that the former president and current GOP nominee, Donald Trump, will “try to claim victory immediately” in the 2024 election, even “before all of the mail-in ballots come through.”
“And then when he loses and loses by a large number, he’s going to go right back to the ‘Big Lie’ No. 2,” Cohen told MSNBC’s Alex Witt.
And that, said Trump’s former personal attorney, is the claim that Democrats “stole it from us” again.
Trump will try to “create some sort of a frenzy amongst his MAGA base and the supporters,” warned Cohen.
But the lawyer then urged viewers not to get nervous.
“It’s not like it was in 2020” when Trump was president, prematurely and falsely declared victory (while pictured underneath an exit sign) and later attempted to overturn his election loss to Democratic rival Joe Biden.
“The reason is because Trump is not in power. Joe Biden is in power,” said Cohen. There’s no likelihood of another Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection taking place, he added, because “the military, the National Guard, Seal Team Six, they are already, the local police, they are already on high alert for any nonsense.”
“They are not going to allow what happened on Jan. 6 to ever happen again,” he added. Watch Cohen’s full commentary here:
