Caribbean waters are warm enough for tropical development of Invest 97L which forecasters believe will soon become a tropical storm and work its way into the Gulf of Mexico.
But wind shear, or disruptive breezes are at play along with a far-away jet stream that make predictions about Invest 97L’s path tricky for forecasters. AccuWeather is calling for a tropical storm to form by Monday night while the National Hurricane Center gives the system an 80% chance of development in the next 48 hours.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.
The Atlantic basin includes the northern Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
