Authorities have issued a tragic update in the case of a veteran and father who went missing last week in Cedar City, Utah following a motorcycle accident.
On Nov. 1, the Cedar City Police Department reported that 35-year-old marine veteran Eduardo Gutierrez-Nava had been reported missing on Oct. 29. He was last seen on Oct. 28 riding his dark silver Ducati street bike. Authorities concentrated their search to the foothills and mountains of Cedar City. On Nov. 2, searchers located Gutierrez-Nava’s remains on State Route 14. His motorcycle was found nearby. No cause of death, nor the circumstances leading to his death, have been publicly disclosed.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim may have lost control of his motorcycle, resulting in a fatal crash,” the police department explained. “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy. The Utah Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.” Authorities urge anyone who was in the area of the crash or may have information regarding the incident to contact local law enforcement.
Gutierrez-Nava was reported missing last Wednesday after he failed to show up for work. A GoFundMe was established to assist his family with funeral costs. “Eddie is remembered as a dedicated father, an honored Marine, and someone deeply cherished by his family and friends,” the fundraiser reads. “The funds raised will go toward covering funeral expenses to support Eduardo’s family and his young son.”
