What side of the road should pedestrians in Wisconsin walk on if there is no sidewalk? State Patrol gives reminder

(WFRV) – Ever wonder what side of the road you should be walking on in Wisconsin when there is no sidewalk? Well, the Wisconsin State Patrol provided the answer to that question.

The Wisconsin State Patrol posted a question on its Facebook page asking residents if they knew what side pedestrians are required to walk on. The two answers were with traffic or against traffic.

This applies if there is no sidewalk on the road. In the comments, the Wisconsin State Patrol said the answer is against traffic, the left side of the roadway.

Officials linked to Wisconsin State Legislature where it states pedestrians are required to walk on the left side of the highway. Below is an excerpt of section 346.28(1):

Any pedestrian traveling along and upon a highway other than upon a sidewalk shall travel on and along the left side of the highway and upon meeting a vehicle shall, if practicable, move to the extreme outer limit of the traveled portion of the highway.
