Karnataka BJP leader submits pendrive containing obscene clips to probe team

Devaraje Gowda, who had purportedly written to the BJP leadership about JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna’s sexual misconduct, appeared before the Special Investigation Team.

Karnataka BJP leader Devaraje Gowda, who had purportedly written to the party leadership about JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna’s sexual misconduct, submitted a pendrive containing alleged obscene videos to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT, set up by the Karnataka government, is probing the alleged sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna.

Devaraje Gowda appeared before the SIT on Thursday and recorded his statements. He also revealed that the pen drive was given to him by Karthik, Prajwal Revanna’s former driver.

Gowda has claimed that he sent a letter to Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra earlier this year, urging the party not to give a ticket to Prajwal from the Hassan constituency.

Gowda warned of political repercussions, claiming that Congress leaders were in possession of a pendrive containing around 3,000 obscene videos involving Prajwal.

However, BY Vijayendra has denied receiving any such letter from Devaraje Gowda, saying the claims by the BJP leader were “patently false”.

“Lawyer Devaraje Gowda’s claim of sending me a letter on the videos is patently false. No such letter has reached me nor did I have any knowledge of the videos,” he said in a post on X.

The explicit video clips started making the rounds in Hassan days ahead of polls on April 26. The videos depicted Revanna allegedly engaging in acts of sexual abuse against multiple women. The JD(S) MP reportedly left the country for Germany amid the controversy.

Moreover, a woman who worked in Prajwal’s household accused the MP and his father – JD(S) MLA and former minister HD Revanna – of sexual harassment. Another woman has accused Prajwal of rape, following which a case has been filed.

On Thursday, a lookout notice was issued against the JD(S) MP after he sought seven days’ time to appear before the SIT. The probe team had directed Prajwal to appear for questioning within 24 hours.

In his first response since the alleged scandal broke, Prajwal said, “I am not in Bangalore to attend the enquiry. I have communicated to the CID Bangalore through my advocate. Truth will prevail soon.”
